About Blue Pencil Studio
Hollywood to Honiton — The Story Behind the Art
Blue Pencil Studio is the online home of Anna Saunders — animator, artist, and gallery owner based in the heart of Devon.
Anna's career has taken her from hand-drawn animation in London's Soho to the studios of Hollywood, where she animated Looney Tunes characters at Warner Brothers in Los Angeles. Along the way she's brought to life Scrooge Mc Duck for Disney, danced Regency mice through Beatrix Potter's Tailor of Gloucester for the BBC, and even animated sad chickens for a Morrissey world tour in collaboration with P.E.T.A. She's also worked on Matt Groening's Futurama for Fox TV.
Now based in east Honiton, Devon, Anna channels that lifetime of storytelling into a new body of work — whimsical, character-led digital art that blends her love of animation, folklore, and the wonderfully strange. Each piece is created in her studio and printed to order on premium matte paper, bringing a little magic to walls everywhere.
Anna also runs Blue Pencil Gallery in Honiton — a small gallery specialising in animation-inspired art, where original canvas and framed prints are available to view in person.
"I've spent my career making characters come alive. Now I want to bring that same sense of wonder into people's homes."
